The main software implementing the algorithm was writen in C language under MsDos 6.20. However, the final image was composed of 3200x2400 pixels with 2x2 supersampling for antialiasing, and fixed point-16 bit precission colors to properly accumulate colors and do HDR exposure control. This means a total of 175 Megabytes of memory usage. Because the 64 Megabyte limitation of MsDos 6.20, I switched to MsDos 7.0 for rendering the final image.

To have a noise free attractor density, 32 million iterations where used in the final image. The complete image was calculated in 8 hours on a Pentium III running at 500 Mhz.

To get a big random set of IFSs, the program first saved to disk two thousand of IFS images at relatively-low resolution for one day (while studing for my exams).
