I used pure non-distorted fbm to create height fields to be interpreted as mountains. Fbm's where used also for creating the 2D clouds, the rocky texture and the snow and grass distribution. The basic distribution for snow and greass was also amplitude-modulated by the slope and altitued of the primary fbm defining the mountains. That way I could obly the snow to stay only in the horizontal parts of the mountains.
